Sales of new single-family houses in December 2005 increased 2.9 percent from November's rate, according to the U.S. Census Bureau and Department of Housing and Urban Development. And, December 2005 outperformed December 2004 by 1.8 percent."Long-term rates have been declining since November and unemployment is holding steady; both are key drivers of a strong housing market.
