Lower Energy Prices, Employment Help Boost Home Sales

  Our Goals

The Mortgage Bankers Association's Weekly Mortgage Applications Survey for the week ending October 28 was released today. Mortgage loan application volume decreased 4.8% on a seasonally adjusted basis from one week earlier. The seasonally-adjusted Purchase Index decreased 6.2 percent and the Refinance Index decreased 2.8% from one week earlier."Energy prices have become more palatable and both long-term interest rates and the employment outlook are highly conducive to robust home sales. With the Fed boosting the Federal Funds rate a quarter point yesterday and expected to do so again in December and January, short-term rates are rising," says Quicken Loans Chief Economist Bob Walters. "Refinance applications are strong as homeowners currently in adjustable rate mortgages and home equity lines of credit are switching to the safety of fixed-rate programs."  Mortgage News Home Current Headlines Next Article  Refinancing | Home Loans | Home Equity Loans | My Quicken Loans Login Mortgage News | Mortgage Rates | Mortgage Calculators | Apply Online Careers | Contact Us | Feedback | Site Map | Help | Search Security and Privacy | Disclosures and Licenses | Terms of Use © 2000 - 2005 Quicken Loans Inc., All rights reserved.
